Soul Food
The photographic project explores the deep connection between food and emotions both in Italy and globally. Every individual, regardless of their economic, social, or psychological conditions, has a food that evokes joy and carefree memories. This project aims to uncover these deeply personal connections by asking participants which food they crave when they feel tired or sad, and the reasons behind their choices. Project Each subject will be portrayed in two evocative photographs. The first image captures an intimate, overhead view of their hands gently cradling the cherished food, symbolizing the comfort and solace it brings. The second photograph reveals the person in their safe haven, holding the food that carries them back to moments of happiness and tranquility. This setting, whether it be a cozy corner of their home or a serene outdoor spot, represents their personal refuge from the world's chaos.As viewers, we are invited to first witness the hands holding the food, feeling the warmth and significance of the moment. Then, we are gradually introduced to the face and the sanctuary of the individual, allowing us to connect with their story on a deeper level. Through these powerful images, the project seeks to highlight the universal yet unique bond between food and emotions, showcasing how something as simple as a favorite dish can hold a world of meaning and memories.
